Creative Worship

One common form of congregational worship is music. Music is able to help connect the hearts of ordinary men to that of the supernatural God. Music is inspiring and creative; it comes in many different genres, moods and styles. I believe God delights in the creativity of His people. Why? Because our Father in Heaven is the Creator.

. creativity
The ability to create meaningful new ideas.

“He has put a new song in my mouth – praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.”
- Psalm 40:3 (NKJV)

As a worshipper, I want to be creative in the way I worship God; afterall, I will be doing it for eternity. I express creative worship primarily through music: singing, playing the guitar, songwriting and audio recording & mixing. It’s more than mere thirty-plus minutes of singing each weekend; daily response to the eternal worth of God revealed is necessary.

You may not be a musician, which is totally fine. There are many other ways to express creative worship into your daily life – it need not even be arts related. Seek the Lord, look into your life, I pray that you’ll be able to discover and start practicing it/them.

Do not be discouraged if you do not feel competent about it. Remember, it’s not how good you are at it; it’s the willingness to be creative coupled with the desire to praise God.

Comment: What are some of the ways you (can) creatively express worship to God – be it in private or in a congregation?
