How To Worship?

All of us are great worshippers; God has made us so. (say Amen) We can worship God because He enables us. He chose to reveal Himself to us through Christ’s life, death and resurrection. He granted us direct access to worship in His presence (Hebrews 10:19-22) and even delights in our worship. (Romans 12:1) Are your bosses and teachers hard to please? Well, God isn’t that hard to please – if you know how.

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
- John 4:24 (NKJV)

God has already given us the Holy Spirit when we gave our lives to Jesus. Like prayer, we worship through the Holy Spirit. (Philippians 3:3) This requires faith, without which it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6) In simple terms, this is what it means to worship in spirit – it’s that simple.

The difference between singing and worshipping God with singing is the heart. If we do not mean what we sing from the depths of our heart, we aren’t worshipping. Living out what we sing is a greater challenge than merely singing it. To worship in truth is to sing with conviction and respond in action what we’ve sang to God – worship is not complete without both elements. Worship is the response to the worth of God.

Chris Tomlin – Made To Worship

Verse 1:
Before the day, before the light
Before the world revolved around the sun
God on high, stepped down into time
And wrote the story of His love for everyone

Pre-Chorus:
He has filled our hearts with wonder
So that we always remember

Chorus:
You and I are made to worship
You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free

When you and I embrace surrender
When you and I choose to believe
Then you and I will see
Who we were meant to be

Verse 2:
All we are and all we have
Is all a gift from God that we receive
Brought to life, we open up our eyes
To see the majesty and glory of the King

Bridge:
Even the rocks cry out
Even the heavens shout
At the sound of His holy name

So let every voice sing out
And let every knee bow down
He is worthy of all our praise
